Constellation of the month
SANDERSON – The $1.3 million “convention center” and its adjacent “pavilion” will not be completed now until mid-September, County
Commissioners learned Monday.
Justin Gilmore, vice president of Southwest Architects of Fort Worth, told commissioners the work on
compressed adobe brick exteriors had gone more slowly than expected and the completion would slip two or three weeks.
He had said last
year, he hoped the work could be done by July 4 but told commissioners last month it would be the end of August.
The commissioners
took a recess from the regular monthly meeting to inspect the progress on the facility at Oak and Second.
The façade on the “convention
center” on the east half of the block is essentially done but it still lacks the rock work and a brass “bell” in the bell tower.
BELL TOWER – The “compressed adobe” work is completed on the front of the Terrell County Convention Center and work on the “Bell Tower”
was under way. County Commissioners inspected the progress on the $1.3 million facility during a “recess” from their regular meeting
Monday.
