BRIDGEWORK – Crews with Alan Keller Co. of Fredericksburg made quick work of repairs to State Highway 349 at Big Canyon this month.
The road was re-opened last week between Dryden and Sheffield after three weeks of work. Repairs had initially been estimated to take
“four to six weeks.”
WE WON – Sanderson footballers met at the sidelines last week to celebrate their victory over the Sierra Blanca Vaqueros. Show were

EIGHT DECADES – Consuelo Galvan celebrated her 80th birthday celebration Sunday. Family and friends gathered to celebrate the
event. Out of town relatives included Frank and Estella Galvan of Fort Stockton, Carlos and Roxie Galvan and family of Sheffield
and Steven Calzada of Midland.

CROSS COUNTRY – The Sanderson Eagles boys cross country team continued to rack up victories last week, placing first at the meet in

EN LA CASA – Eduardo Ruiz of Canutillo as Thomas and Amber Bowman of Odessa as Nora engaged in a heartfelt discussion
in this scene from "Casa de Muñeca," Liz Castillo's adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's "A Doll's House.” The modern version of the Ibsen
classic will be performed Oct. 24-26 at the Studio Theatre in the Francois Fine Arts Building on the Sul Ross State University campus.
It opens next week.

CANDIDATES – Lyle Larson, left, candidate for US Congress, met in Sanderson with, from left, Don Kelso, Thomas “T.C.” Kincaid, Jr.,
and Dru Kincaid. Larson is running for the 23rd Congressional District seat. Kincaid is a candidate for the 74th District seat in
the Texas House.
DRAINING WORK – Terrell County Road and Bridge crews are assisting contractor Pedro Martinez as drainage ditches are extended throughout
Sanderson. The current project is on Fifth Street but a new $936,000 grant will extend the ditches east along Pine and Hackberry all
the way to Wilson Street on the west.

The artwork by Hector Martinez and Head Coach and Athletic Director Mark Dominguez reflects home pride in the Eagles as they seek
to defend their district title at Balmorhea tonight.
LONGEVITY – County Judge Leo Smith, right, presented ten-year pins to Yolanda Lopez and Johnny Garza Monday. Smith received a five-year
pin. Martha Allen, who was not present, was honored for 25 years and C.D. Curry, who also was absent, received a 15-year pin. Other
ten-year pins went to Leila Cash and Lynda Helmers and joining Smith for five-year pins were Donna Smith, Veronica Luevano, Corina
Castro, Butch Maldonado and Ron Valdez.
