DO I HEAR TEN? – Auctioneer Kenn Norris presided at the Terrell County 4-H Auction Saturday, bringing in about $34,600 from bidders
for cars, culverts, tires, antiques and many more items. Most of the items were on “consignment” and the 4-Hers kept 15 percent of
the total for club projects.
UNDER THE BIG TOP – Most of the action at the 4-H Auction Saturday took place under a big blue tent at the Legion Park. Cool autumn weather brought out the bidders and the consignors, earning the 4-Hers over $5,000.
THEY'VE GOT THE WHOLE WORLD IN THEIR HANDS– 4-H Club members did the heavy lifting at the auction Saturday, held in their behalf to fund future projects for the local organization.
FOR BUFF – Terrell County Commissioner Kenn Norris and former JP Jannie McDonald, now of San Angelo, presided over a benefit dinner
for Tommy “Buff” McDonald, now undergoing treatment for cancer in a San Angelo hospital. Whether hungry or just generous, residents
contributed more than $3,000 to aid in the cancer battle.
SANDERSON DANCERS – Sanderson Elementary student Kate Roberts went airborne as she and Luke Carroll danced to the creations of Brent
Daniels last week. Kate and Luke were among several classmates dancing to the “sounds.” Daniels uses his “digital sampler” to create
music and sound effects for the entertainment industry. He said those who choose not to use drugs and alcohol are really the “cool”
ones.

WINNING BOYS – Sanderson Eagle boys placed numero uno at the district track meet in Balmorhea Wednesday. The
girls placed second and both will go to the regional meeting at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock Nov. 8. Winning boys were, from left,

NEW IN TOWN – Sheriff Clint McDonald, left, greeted his newest deputy, Bill Adams, last week. Both are from Junction. The appointment
fills the second of two new positions created by Terrell County for the fiscal year that began Oct. 1.
THIS WAY, MA’AM – Joey Carrasco escorted Frankie Cash to her seat as the youth group 180º Revolution fed the ones that have been feeding
them. Ladies of First Baptist Church feed the kids each week so they decided to return the favor.
TRICK OR TREAT – Sheriff Clint McDonald showed off a reflective bag his office will give out with “starter candy” already inside.
Tomorrow night is the annual “trick or treat” night with hundreds of children out in search of goodies and McDonald suggests they
start their drive at the Sheriff’s Office.
TOUR GUIDE – Bill Smith showed the Sanderson Chamber of Commerce an early design of a Walking and Driving Tour booklet he is working
on. Tammy Ramsey inspected the work. The Chamber is developing a list of points of interest to provide to visiting tourists. Smith
said a booklet format would work better than a brochure because it would provide more room for information.
A PERFECT TEAM – The Lady Colts junior high volleyball team are from left to right, Coach Nitra Woods, Libby Hernandez, Capri Garlick,
Micella Grano, Serena Arenas, Bianca Cardoza, Krystal Aguilar and resting is Julia Ramirez. The girls didn’t lose a match all year.
RUNNER – Odessa High School sophomore Adam Fuentes, grandson of Arturo and Bertha Fuentes of Sanderson, recently placed fifth
at the Odessa Cross Country Invitational and fourth at the Ruidoso, NM, Cross Country Invitational. Adam, pictured left with his mother
Angie, was to run yesterday in Lubbock and will represent OHS at this year’s district meet.
RIBBON BALLOONS – They aren’t really ribbons but Sanderson Elementary students released red balloons this week to mark Red Ribbon
Week. The week is set aside each year to stress drug and alcohol awareness and the schools celebrated all week with red events.
