BACK TO NORMAL – The creek at the Post Park south of Marathon appeared almost normal this week. Crews have completed Phase I to remove
old plants from the creek. Phase II is mostly paper work. Then fish who like to attack the plants will then be added.
ALL TIME RECORD – Mike and Marsha Borders of Las Vegas, NV, standing on each side of their car last year, will hold the record for all time at the Big Bend Open Road Race between Sanderson and Fort Stockton. The race apparently is no more. The Borders hold the speed record for the course at 172.584 mph.
BIG BANG TO NOW – Dr. David Lambert explored the universe from the Big Bang to now at the Mary Thomas Marshall Lecture Series this
week at Sul Ross State University. It discussed the “primordial soup” theory of how it all began.
SWINGERS – Retired Alpine High Coach Joe Valenzuela, left, helped Colten Johnson with his golf swing recently. The golf season at
Marathon High School is underway with help from Valenzuela and some donated equipment.
