UNTROUBLED WATERS – The Post waters are clearing and the Cat-O-Nine Tails are looking good after renovations this winter. The east bank is still bald and the permit process from Texas Parks & Wildlife for carp and bass introduction has not yet been approved. The fish could help keep down additional weed infestation.

NATURE FESTIVALBennett Jones of Alpine told the Marathon Chamber of Commerce Monday that he will oversee the next “Living with Nature Festival” Aug. 1 to 3 in Marathon. Looking on were Clyde Curry, left, and Lloyd Goldwire. Jones said reduced prices and making the event “kid friendly” might help boost attendance.

MOVING UP – Celestine Garcia, left, and Crystal Ybarra both placed fourth in their events at the District meet in Sanderson last week. They advanced to the Area meet Tuesday in Wink.

DEEP SUBJECT – Nope, it’s not an oil well. It’s another water well being drilled in Marathon by Skinner's Drilling. This is a residential permitted well at Alta Vista.

GARDEN DIG – The Gage Garden Extension remains under development in Marathon. Dry conditions have prevented the big machines from operating lately due to flying dust. Will it ever rain?
