PROM ROYALTY – Devin Kolesar and Victoria Zimmerman were crowned prom royalty Saturday night at the Gage Gardens. The two seniors,
picked by their classmates, danced under the stars to music played by a disc jockey from San Antonio.
LIFELONG ENTERPRISE – Sul Ross State University Commencement speaker Trish Pollard told graduates Saturday that education is a lifelong
enterprise. It is the “magic key that takes you where you want to be,” she said.
AND THAT MEANS YOU – This homemade sign at the Post Park tells it all. The park was recently renovated but water pollution is a continuing
problem. The Post is a popular spot for outings five miles south of Marathon.
MOTHERS AT THE PARK – Last week was Mothers Day and several Marathon people headed to the Post to celebrate. Taking it all in were,

AND THE BAND PLAYED ON – Colten Johnson posed for a picture at the prom with his date, K.C. Avery of Fort Davis, last week. She is
the granddaughter of Laverne and Durwood Avery of Marathon.
MISSING MISSY – Seniors at Sanderson High School Class of ’08 painted Hackberry Street in an annual tradition this week. They remembered
classmate Melissa Cruz who was killed last year in an auto accident. Graduation will be May 30.
