BLUEBONNETSIsaiah Briones showed off his artistic talent this week, turning a pine cone into a bluebonnet. Children taking part in the Marathon Public Library Summer Reading Program heard “The Legend of the Bluebonnet” and turned Tomie DePaola’s work into reality.

CHURCH HONORHal and Carol Henthorne posed with the new Bishops Award received by the First United Methodist Church of Marathon. The honor came at the recent New Mexico Conference in Glorieta, NM. The award was based on several categories including financial and membership.

ROCK OF AGESProfessor Kevin Urbanczyk and 29 Sul Ross geology students were in Marathon this week studying rock foundations in the Marathon Basin. Features like Iron Mountain grew out of an uplift, an event known as an intrusion.
