THE NEW AND FORMERFive players suited up for practice for the Marathon Mustangs last week but the season is now no mas. Omar Grano, second from left, was nursing an injury and did not suit up and Zach Gonzalez, second from left, kneeling, was injured this week. With six required to play, it leaves the team just a tad short. Shown back row from left, were Defensive Coordinator Richard Madrid, Omar, Head Coach Gene Peña, Colten Johnson, Edward Gonzalez and Offensive Coordinator Will Cazares. Kneeling, from left, were Team Manager Cody Ward, Zach, Cito Hernandez and Jerek Lara.

SHOWER SHOWERYou could get really wet in the shower room at the Lajitas Resort and Spa’s Ambush Golf Course this week. Flood waters ambushed the golf course and just about everything else along the international boundary between Lajitas and Presidio.

PASO MOJADOThe little town of Paso across the Rio Grande from Lajitas was inundated by flood waters along the Rio this week. Release of water from the Leon Dam up the Rio Conchos from Presidio combined with heavy rains to cause record-setting floods along the border.

PIGTAILSAbby Carrasco of Sanderson showed off some pigtails that were no longer a part of her anatomy last week. Abby let Country Clips remove ten inches of her hair to donate to “Locks of Love,” an organization that provides wigs to children who have lost hair because of disease.
