FOR SANDERSON WE WILL... – Sanderson Eagle band accompanies the crowd as they sing the school song. The band, under the direction of Sanderson alumnus Eric Cooksey, is making a brave comeback.
GET HIM – El Paso Immanuel runner Albert Navarro picked up some yardage against the Sanderson Eagles last week. Coming to put a hiatus
to his run were Jimmy Rapp, 5, and J.D. Brotherton, 20. The other Warrior visible was Chad O’Leary, 12.
IN JAIL – Sheriff Clint McDonald and Jail Administrator Susan Pendleton posed in the county jail this week. A state inspector found
“no deficiencies” in an unannounced inspection last week. McDonald said in the 13 years he has been in Terrell County, there have
been “no deficiencies noted.”
RUN RYAN ROSAS – Sanderson Eagles running back Ryan scampered down the field for big yardage Friday in the game with El Paso Immanuel
Baptist. Jacob Benavidez, 3, and Darren Seidel, 58 came to help.
OUT AHEAD – Travis Roberts of Sanderson was out ahead of the pack last week at the cross-country meet in Wink. Travis placed third
as an individual and both boys and girls Eagle teams placed third as well.
LAVA CARRO – Sanderson High School Spanish III and IV class members washed cars Sunday at Sanderson Tire Center to help finance a

GO DANIEL – Sanderson Junior High School sixth grade running back Daniel Luevano looked for running room last week in the game against
Grandfalls-Royalty. It was for naught. The Junior Eagles came out second best in a 47-0 shutout at the hands of the Cowboys.
DUNKIN’ DUNCAN – Marathon High School senior Marshall Duncan went into the tank at West Fest Saturday. He volunteered for the dunking
tank benefiting Marathon Elementary School PTO. Deputy Sheriff Edward Cardoza scored three out of three softball throws, sending Marshall
repeatedly into the water.
PILEUP – A pile of scrap lumber on Legion Street in Sanderson will be a big blaze Thursday night, Oct. 2. Homecoming is next week
and the bonfire is a traditional part of the leadup to Friday’s game against Buena Vista and the crowing of homecoming king and queen.
OLD SOLDIERS – Sgt. Major Robert Preston and Army laundress Sandy Young, members of the "Historic Fort Stockton Living History Unit"of Fort Stockton, were present in May at Fort Mason Sesquicentennial event in Mason.
TOE TAPPERS – Marina Azar on guitar and Betty McGehee on violin entertained at “Toe Tappin’ Tuesday this week at the Bicentennial
Park Pavilion. It was the penultimate performance in this year’s series by Sanderson Arts and Education Alliance. McGehee is a “private
teacher” working towards as Master’s degree at Sul Ross in Alpine where she hopes to teach. Azar is band director at Alpine Middle
School and assistant director at the high school.
JUDGE PRO-TEM? – County Commissioner Kenn Norris presided over a special meeting of County Commissioners Court Tuesday in the absence
of County Judge Leo Smith. Also present were Commissioners Della Fuentes, center, and Yolanda Lopez. Smith was out because of a death
in the family. Commissioner Charles Stegall was also absent because of a previous commitment.
