KIARA KAT – Kiara Castillo, 3, was all painted up in cat makeup for West Fest at Post Park in Marathon Saturday. Kiara is the daughter
of Jeff and Patty Castillo of Alpine. When asked how old she was, she answered “Kiara.” Apparently, even a toddler didn’t want to
tell her age.
ROW-ROW YOUR BOAT – Brothers, Colton & Rusty Johnson rowed their way to victory last seekend at West Fest, defeating Hector Hernandez
& Marshal Duncan. Winning the competition was Lynn & Della Shackelford.
DUNKIN’ DUNCAN – Marathon High School senior Marshall Duncan went into the tank at West Fest Saturday. He volunteered for the dunking
tank benefiting Marathon Elementary School PTO. Deputy Sheriff Edward Cardoza scored three out of three softball throws, sending Marshall
repeatedly into the water.
LOOT BY LOIS – Lois Horton was one of the vendors at West Fest last weekend at Post Park south of Marathon. She offered a variety
of homemade jewelry and other knick-knacks with a Western theme.
HISTORY BOOK – Long time Marathon resident Shirley Rooney is at home as a part-time worker in the Marathon Public Library. An avid
reader of non-fiction with an almost-photographic memory, Rooney is considered pretty much a walking history book.
OUT IN FORCE – Marathon Elementary School turned out in force this month at the Globe Theatre in Odessa to see “Snow White and the
Seven Dwarfs.” The kids posed with the cast and then went for pizza and fun at Gattiland.
